We are a small newsroom and we commission freelance work regularly. There is no long application process – a good pitch is the application.
What makes a good pitch
- A specific claim, not a topic. “Inference costs are falling” is a topic; “why the cost curve broke in a way that changes what you self-host” is a pitch.
- Something you can actually check – a benchmark you ran, a system you operated, documents you have read.
- A reason it matters to someone building with this, beyond being interesting.
What we are not looking for
Roundups assembled from other coverage, model release summaries that restate an announcement post, and anything written to promote a product you are attached to.
Rates and terms
We pay per commissioned piece; the rate depends on scope and is agreed before you start writing. You keep the right to republish after an agreed exclusivity window. We edit for accuracy and clarity, and you see the edit before it runs.
How to pitch
Send two or three paragraphs through the contact page: the claim, how you would support it, and a link or two to previous work. If it is not a fit we will say so quickly rather than leave you waiting.
